Over 85 Years of Ministry in Sarnia
The Legacy Continues
It was the summer of 1937. On a vacant lot on the outskirts of town, a tent meeting was nearly bursting at the seams. Two young preachers had organized the effort, and the spiritual hunger of the crowds was so great that often the whole front of the tent was filled by people who came forward to receive Christ. Originally only planned for the month of July, these meetings carried on every evening until the end of August. That summer Christians in and around the Sarnia area were revived in their faith, families were united in Christ, and many people trusted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
Out of this exciting time, Temple Baptist Church emerged. Eight charter members trusted God for a church and before long, He provided. Today, more than 85 years later the legacy continues.
Things have changed culturally and people have come and gone over the years, but we continue to strive to be a humble presence in the midst of this beautiful city. We want people to hear about the love and forgiveness of Jesus. We want to be known as a church that is full of love, faith and hope.
