Our Beliefs
|
At Temple, we seek to develop a small group ministry that provides a predictable small group environment where participants experience authentic community and spiritual growth. We say predictable because we believe our groups need to strive toward a common vision of life together in Christ, and because we hold our group leaders accountable for their leadership.
When we think of authentic community, we envision an environment of mutual accountability, belonging and care. When we think of spiritual growth, we think of joining hands together in an all-out pursuit of intimacy with God, community with insiders, and influence with outsiders. |
The Format
In a small group, people study God's word together and discuss the issues and challenges of life. It's a place where they pray together, care for one another, and are missed if they don't show up. It is also a place where they seek to be the practical hands and feet of Jesus, reaching out together to serve our community and beyond. Most groups consist of 8-12 people who meet for about 2 hours at a time. Our Group calendar follows a three season calendar, meeting for ten weeks followed by a 4-5 week break. Participants can join, withdraw or switch groups at any seasonal break. Participants are asked to make attendance and participation a priority during the ten week season. |
Our Values
At Temple we believe that intentional relationships are key to sustained spiritual growth and community transformation. That’s why small groups are such an important part of our discipleship strategy. Practically speaking, there will never be a way for the staff or elders to personally minister to everyone who attends our church. That's why we place such a high premium on group life. It's how we minister most effectively at Temple. |
